Front Back
Step one
The enzyme Hexokinase adds a P onto Glucose, by removing a P from ATP, yielding ADP and the next substrate Glucose-6-Phosphate.
Step two
The enzyme Phosphoglucoisomerase(Gly-2) rearranges the substrate Glucose-6-Phosphate into the next substrate in the reaction Fructose-6-phosphate.
Step three
The enzyme Phosphofructokinase-1 (Gly-3), adds another P group to Fructose-6-phosphate yielding Fructose-1-6-Phosphate and ADP.
Step four
The enzyme Aldolase (Gly-4) splits the substrate Fructose-1-6-Phosphate into Dihydroxyacetone and Glyceraldehyde-3-Phosphate.
Step five
The enzyme Triose phosphate isomerase changes Dihydroxyacetone phosphate into Glyceralehyde-3-Phosphate substrate. (2 PGALs now)
Step six
Enzyme Glyceraldehyde-3-Phosphate dehydrogenase adds a P to the PGALs & reduces NAD+ to NADH to yield 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate.
Step seven
Phosphoglycerokinase(Gly-7) removes a P from 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate adds it to ADP to yield ATP & 3-phosphoglycerate(substrate level Phos)
Step eight
Phosphoglyceromutase(Gly-8) rearranges the P on 3-phosphoglycerate to yield the substrate 2-phosphoglycerate.
Step nine
Enolase(Gly-9) removes a water from 2-phosphoglycerate to yield Phosphoenol-pyruvate(PEP), This has a C=C.
Step ten
Pyruvate Kinase(Gly-10) removes a phosphate and adds a H+ to Phosphoenol-pyruvate(PEP) to yield Pyruvate (2 Pyruvates/glucose). 1 ATP formed.
