Well, not many people know what combining forms are. Simply put, combining forms are words that form a part of another word. These types of words are very commonly seen in sciences and medicine. For instance, Uvul/o goes into Uvula, and Trache/o goes into Trachea. These combining forms are important to be remembered, for medicine students. However, it is very obvious that they are not easy to remember. Even though most of them come out from the common medical terms, students still often mix them up. These Flashcards can simply help you in remembering the different forms. Combining forms themselves, are not usable words in general. They only turn into useful words after being attached to a suffix. For instance, Trache/o joins with an ‘a’ to form Trachea. In this example, ‘a’ is a suffix while Trache/o is the combining form.
