Share Permissions
They grant permissions only to network users and these permisssions do not apply to local users. Work on NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT volumes. Configured on the sharing tab in folder properties.
NTFS Permissions
Apply to local users and network users and apply to both folders and individual files. Work on NTFS volumes and are configured using the security tab on a file or folder properties.
Permisssion Propagation
When permissions are passed from paret to child.
Inherited Permissions
Are permissions that are attained from a parent object.
What happens to permissions when you move an object to a folder?
The object takes on the permissions of that folder. Exception to this rule is when you move (not copy) an object from one location to another on the same volume. In this case the object retains its permissions from the original folder.
Cable Tester
Can be used to test a cable to find out if it is good or to find out what type of cable. Only works with unhooked cables.
Loopback plug
Can be used to test a network cable or port. Works with live cables.
Ping
Packet InterNet Groper command tests connectivity by sending an echo request to a remote computer.

Trace Route command sends a series of requests to the destination computer and displays each hop to the destination. Can be useful when you're trying to resolve a problem reaching a destination host such as FTP site or web site.

Command connects or disconnects a computer from a shared resource or can display information about connections.
