THe United States and most Western countries were capitalist because their economies were based on private enterprise, with individuals investing in business for profit.

It was a military alliance that was designed to promote the stability of the North Atlantic area and to safeguard the freedom of its people, based on the principles of democracy, individual liberty and international law.

The Warsaw Pact was an alliance made up of Eastern European countries, it was created because the Societ Union felt threatened by the NATO countries.

It was used to stabilize the world economy by helping countries that faced great debt and the collapse of their currencies.

The Cuban Missile Crisis was the closest the world ever came to nuclear war. The United States armed forces were at their highest state of readiness ever and Soviet field commanders in Cuba were prepared to use battlefield nuclear weapons to defend the island if it was invaded.

As dictated by the agreement, the main purposes of the Canadian-United States Free Trade Agreement are as follows:

• eliminate barriers to trade in goods and services between Canada and the United States;
• facilitate conditions of fair competition within the free-trade area established by the Agreement;
• liberalize significantly conditions for investment within that free-trade area;
• establish effective procedures for the joint administration of the Agreement and the resolution of disputes;
• lay the foundation for further bilateral and multilateral cooperation to expand and enhance the benefits of the Agreement.

It is an agreement signed by the governments of the United States, Canada and Mexico creating a trilateral trade bloc in North America.
