Explain the Terms of Electrocardiography of Arteries Flashcards

Can you explain the terms of the electrocardiography of arteries? If you are unsure, these flashcards may be of assistance. An electrocardiogram is a painless, non-invasive way to help diagnose the condition. It is meant to investigate the heart. It can tell the doctor if blocked or narrowed arteries in your heart are causing harm. Read and study these flashcards if you want to know more about the electrocardiography of arteries.

What cardiac events are occurring during each phase?
  • Phase 4-resting membrane potential
  • Phase 0-rapid depolarization
  • Phase 1-initial repolarization
  • Phase 2-plateau phase
  • Phase 3-rapid repolarization phase
List and define the four characteristics of a cardiac cell.
Automaticity-generates action potential.Excitability-ability of cells to reach threshold potential and respond.Contractility-ability of cardiac muscle fibers to contract and do work.Conductivity-ability of cells to transmit electrical current from cell to cell.
Draw and label a QRS complex.
Answer 9
Einthoven's Triangle
Answer 10
What are the practical applications of this triangle?
Triangle allows EKG tech to figure out which lead may have an issue. I + III = II. Lead I and lead III have to equal lead II. Lead II being the largest and best view.
Explain the difference between the two types of leads.
Bipolar leads have both positive and negative poles.(I,II,III) LA, LF, RA, RF or limb leads.Augumented (unipolar) only have positive poles. (aVR,aVL,aVF)
Draw a patient with correctly placed precordial leads.
