What is G.P.E ?
G.P.E is the energy stored in an object when you raise it to a height against gravity. Its simply the height of energy.
What happens to the GPE when you do work on the object ?
If you life an object and do work on it it gains GPE which is equal to the work done. When the object falls the object loses GPE.
What is the formula for GPE ?
Change in GPE = weight x vetical height
How does GPE apply to a rollercoaster ?
When the carriage on a rollercoaster is at its heighest point it has maximum GPE. However when the carriage falls the GPE changes into kinetic energy. They would almost be equal apart from if air resistance and friction interfere but normally they would say to ignore that so the GPE and KE are exactly the same.
What is the formula for weight and how is it different to mass ?
Weight = mass x acceleration. The main difference between mass is how much matter is in an object while weight is to do with the force gravity.
