Cards In This Set

Front Back
Fc receptor
Phagocyte receptor capable of recognizing antibodies bound to Bacteria
Phagosome
Intracellular pod that contains the engulfed particle within phagocyte that lysosome fuses with to degrade particle
Toll Like Receptors (TLR)
Recognize Pathogen Associated Molecular Patterns (PAMPs), composed of lucine rich repeats. Located on cell membrane and also on endocytic vesicles where they determine the degradation of foreign pathogens. Also cause the release of cytokines and chemokines.
TLR-9
Recognize unmethylated CPG-islands once bacterium is degraded within the cell
TLR-5
Toll Like Receptor- recognizes Flagellum
TLR-3
Recognizes DsRNA (viruses)
Cytokine
Cell movement. any secreated protein that affects nearby cells bearing receptors. Secreated by macrophages. Initiate inflammation. Also called interleukines. (IL-2) = interleukin 2
TLR-4
Recognizes lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or gram (-) bacteria
Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)
Component of gram negative bacteria
Nucelotide Oligliomerization Domain (NOD)
Intracellular receptors that recognize foreign pathogens such as viruses or intracellular bacterium that live in the cytosol. REcognize bacterial wall peptidoglycans and induce secretion of inflammatory cytokines, antimicrobial products
RIG-I-like helicases (RLH)
Intracellular receptor that recognizes viral dsDNA with its RNA helicase domain that acts as a trascription factor to produce interferons.
Immunogen
A substance that can elicit and immune response is immunogenic. All immunogens are antigens
Antiserum
The blood serum of a immunized individual. Contains antibodies that are specific to the immunogen
Sero-conversion
When you have developed detectable Ab in blood (serum) to the immunogen (HIV home test)
Adjuvants
Agent that modifies the effect of other agents, such as a drug or vaccine.
