Asynchr-a-what? What is the difference between asynchronous and synchronous learning?

Let's all get in sync! Asynchronous learning happens when the access to the instruction is not at the exact time that the instructor is teaching. This could be a video, activities, discussion boards, chats, etc. Synchronous learning happens IRL (in real life), or at the exact time of instruction. This is also thought of as "live" instruction, whether online or otherwise.

Video conferencing refers to the use of video technology (both hardware and software) to create a virtual meeting between two or more people in different physical locations. Participants can see and hear each other through this technology. A webinar is a seminar or workshop in which the facilitator and participants view the same screen at the same time. Usually the webinar has an audio component that the facilitator controls and functionality that allows participants to chat by entering text, answering polls, raising their hands and asking questions.
