Top American Literature Flashcards

American literature is the literature written or produced in the United States. During its early history, America was a series of British colonies on the eastern coast of the United States. It’s literary tradition begins linked to the broader tradition of English literature. However, unique American characteristics and the breadth of its production now cause it to be considered a separate path and tradition. In our first set of American literature flashcards, we cover various writers and their works categorized by time periods in American literature.

We ask questions like, “In what period was Washington Irving and Rip Van Winkle, Nathaniel Hawthorne and The Scarlet Letter, Edgar Allen Poe with, "The Raven", Herman Melville and Moby Dick written? In our second section, we discuss early American literature from 1830. We provide the historical facts of people like Christopher Columbus and John Winthrop. In the last set, we provide multiple choice questions on Walt Whitman, Ethan Brand and many more influential people. Time to get to work!
