Top Respiratory Flashcards

The respiratory system is made up of the lungs, trachea, bronchi, and other structures that move air in and out of the body. Most of us know that when we breathe in, we are taking oxygen from the environment, but did you know that the air we breathe is only about 20% oxygen? Most of the rest is nitrogen, which passes in and out of our bodies without any effect!

Did you know lungs expand and contract because we have tiny sacs on out lungs called alveoli? They expand when we inhale, then collapse when we exhale. These sacs are where oxygen and carbon dioxide pass back and forth between our lungs and bloodstream! If you want to know more about the respiratory system, then our flashcards can help. The next time someone asks you a question, you can “breathe easier” knowing that you have the right answer!
