Contractors Equipment
Defined as the tools and machinery used in projects involving construction, renovation, earth-moving, and many other activities.
Earth-Moving Equipment
This equipment serves two basic functions necessary in almost every construction project. First, it provides the power to clear job sites and move, eliminate or compress large amounts of earth, rock, snow, debris, and similar materials. Earth-moving equipment can also be used to handle and move construction materials and components within the job site.
Site-Improvement Equipment
Primary site-improvement equipment prepares and finishes asphalt and concrete surfaces.
Material-Handling Equipment
Typically lifts and cranes. Lifts raise, lower and transport supplies and personnel within the job site. Cranes raise and move heavy materials.
Boom Collapse
A frequent and costly type of loss for cranes.
Miscellaneous Contractors Equipment
Equipment that provides supplementary power and support functions to equipment and job sites.
Building Contractors
Perform a wide range of specialized construction projects such as land clearing, concrete work, framing, and electrical work.
Road Building Contractors
Build new roads and repair existing roads.
Utility Contractors
Install water and sewage pipes, powerlines, telephone and cable television lines, and other public service systems.
Waste Disposal Operations
Perform other public services including moving waste at land fills and recycling plants.
Municipal Operations
These operations are funded and organized by the state and local governments and perform jobs similar to those of general contractors, road building contractors, and utility contractors.
Logging Operations
Purpose is to cut down mature timber for use in manufacturing and wood processing.
Feller Bunchers
Equipment used in logging that has a frontal attachment that can grasp and cut trees and then lift and bunch the cut logs.
Skidders
Equipment used in logging that is a self-propelled vehicle that drags logs using a claw-like grapple and winch system.
Yarders
Equipment used in logging that uses a cable and steel tower and spar system that "reels in" and gathers logs at a consolidation point.
