Diverts energy, hurts group cohesion, promotes interpersonal hostilities, creates overall negative environment, can decrease work productivity and job satisfaction, can contribute to absenteeism and job turnover.

Role ambiguities, resource scarcities, task inter dependencies, competing objectives, unresolved prior conflicts.
