Top Cell Flashcards

Cells are the basic unit of all life on earth. Humans, being a form of life, are composed of highly complex assemblies of trillions of cells. Within each of these cells are complex nano-machinery known as organelles which act in concert to produce the phenomena known as life. In our cell series of flashcards, we will discuss cell structures and function and the basic parts of the cell. You will learn how the mitochondria is a bean shaped organelle which is the power-house of the cell.

You will learn how DNA is packaged into assemblies called chromosomes, and stored within the nucleus of cells. You will learn how the plasma membrane functions to contain the innards of the cell and isolate that environment from the outside world. Life is a orchestra of physical and chemical processes of which the most basic unit is the cell. We hope that you will enjoy learning about them in these series of flashcards.
